Fabien Lovett on FSU's Defense: 'We Are Going To Be The Best In The Nation'

Throughout weeks one and two, the Florida State Seminoles have scored a whopping 111 points while allowing a mere 37 points against a highly touted LSU team and a Southern Miss team that won a bowl game last year and looks like they can do the same this year.

As fans have seen, the Seminoles' defensive line has been a terror to opponents, with Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett, Joshua Farmer, and Patrick Payton all making up the starting lineup for the Noles.

Lovett, who last year decided to come back for his last year of eligibility is excited for the world to see what this defense can do.

“I feel like it’s the start of something great. We’ve got some stuff to clean up, we’re not perfect, we’re not the best or where we want to be, but we’re working to get there at the end of the day," Lovett said.

The defense has been a key reason for the recent success with allowing less than 25 points in six of the last eight games the Noles have won.

“We (the Noles defense) are going to be the best in the nation," Lovett said. “There aren’t going to be any ifs, ands, or buts about it.”

While it is yet to be seen if the Seminoles are the best team in the nation defensively speaking, it is clear that the talent and desire is there, they just need to prove it over the next 10 games of the regular season.

In preparation for the upcoming game against Boston College, which will be the first true road game for Florida State, Lovett and the defense have been preparing for a team with a strong running game, a good running back room, and a shorter, bulkier quarterback known for his untraditional run game.

“He moves really good in the pocket, on QB runs he takes off real fast. He’s a strong, big guy, kind of short but he’s a good guy, he’s gonna take off and try to get some extra yards," said Lovett.

Unlike other teams the 'Noles have faced, Lovett and FSU have consistently been known to not trash opponents prior to games, as the team believes in letting their playmaking abilities and work on the field speak for themselves.

The Noles will face the Eagles this Saturday, September 16, in Chestnut Hill with kickoff scheduled for noon ET. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
