Pacers Notes: Bruce Brown, Jarace Walker, Rick Carlisle
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Guard Bruce Brown said signing with the Pacers as a free agent was a no-brainer.

“It really came out of nowhere,” Brown said of the Pacers’ offer, reportedly for two years and $45 million, via the Indianapolis Star. “Obviously there was a few teams who had the mid-level, you’re interested. So I’m like all right, I’m going to get what, 13 a year for three years, like 40. I’m like, I’m fine with that, that’s fine.”

Brown, of course, is coming off a championship season as a key reserve with the Nuggets. His deal with the Pacers consists of a team option after the first season.

“We feel like he’s a great fit,” Pacers president Kevin Pritchard said. “We’re in a really good place right now, with a really great team.”

  • Rookie power forward Jarace Walker underwent minor surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow but is expected to be ready to go for training camp in the fall, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Walker was selected with the No. 8 overall draft pick.
  • Coach Rick Carlisle indicated from the NBA Summer League he expects a competitive training camp. “It’s July 8,” Carlisle said at the time, via the Indy Star. “I’m not gonna write anything in ink with lineups and rotations or any of that stuff. There’s still a long way to go in the summer.”
  • In case you missed it, the Pacers have received high marks for their productive offseason. We have that full post here.
