Jakobi Meyers Among Best in the League in TD Receptions
USA TODAY Sports

Through his first two seasons with the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers had not recorded a receiving touchdown in 29 games.

Today, through seven weeks, Meyers is tied for third place in the league in touchdown receptions with five, one less than his career-best which he recorded last season, his final in New England.

Meyers' latest came in Las Vegas' 30-12 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday when he found the end zone in the final minute and a half of the contest, serving as the Raiders' lone touchdown of the day.

That made it Meyers' third consecutive game with a receiving touchdown, as he had recorded one in each of the Raiders' previous two victories.

He posted one in Las Vegas' win over his former team, the Patriots, in the second quarter to give his team an early 10-0 lead.

The week before on Monday night of Week 5, Meyers had also scored in the second quarter, giving his team its first lead against the Green Bay Packers, who it beat, 17-13.

That followed a three-game stretch in which the first-year Raiders wideout did not record any touchdowns, one of which was Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, which he had to miss due to concussion protocol.

What is almost inevitably going to be a career season for Meyers was ignited by a two-touchdown performance in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, including the game winner with just over six and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Meyers is also second on the team in receiving yards (385). His five receiving touchdowns has him in front of Raiders All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, who was last year's league leader in the category with 14 touchdown receptions.

Meyers' touchdown reception total is currently tied with Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore, and Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

The Silver and Black will stay on the road to take on the Detroit Lions on Monday night, October 30, at 8:15 p.m. EDT/5:15 p.m. PDT.
