Jets add O-Line Depth, Sign Free Agent Tackle Billy Turner
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Having closed out the NFL draft by adding a pair of offensive linemen in center Joe Tippmann and tackle Carter Warren, the Jets have also come to terms with Billy Turner, a veteran tackle of nine seasons as they look to beef up the trenches.

In Turner, the Jets get a versatile blocker who has played each tackle and guard spot through is time with the Dolphins, Packers and Broncos.  Having played for offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in both Green Bay and Denver, it seemed like a natural fit.

Even if the Jets believe that a slimmed down Mekhi Becton will be a go this season, there are still concerns on the offensive line at tackle with Duane Brown turning forty and Max Mitchell coming back from missing a significant chunk of last season after he was found have blood clots during his rookie year.

The Jets are expected to announce their intentions for Mekhi Becton in the near future in regards to his fifth-year option which may not be as outlandish as it seems on the surface, given the money the club would save by avoiding a big contact after this season should Becton bounce back from two years of injuries and play at a high level.

In all, the Jets have added help on the interior by signing Wes Schweitzer and Trystan Colon and at their tackle spots with the re-signing of Cedric Ogbuehi prior to drafting Warren and now signing Turner.
