Raiders' Jakobi Meyers joins elite company with Marcus Allen after impressive feat
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders made it clear that they loved Jakobi Meyers this offseason, or they wouldn't have given him a three-year deal worth $33 million. The Patriots didn't want him, and he has proved them wrong by having his career-high touchdown numbers in 2023.

He has been stellar this year, even when the offense has been poor, and on Thursday Night Football against the Chargers, he had a pretty crazy game. If you have Jakobi Meyers in fantasy football, you likely know exactly what I'm talking about.

Meyers finished with a receiving touchdown and a passing touchdown. Yes, you read that right; he played both positions more than once on Thursday and was actually quite good. The game he had even ended up putting him in some of the same conversations as the great Marcus in, some of the same.

WR Jakobi Meyers is just the second player in Raiders history with a passing and receiving TD in the same game, joining Marcus Allen (10/16/1983 at SEA). WR Jakobi Meyers throws a 3-yard TD pass to WR Davante Adams, capping off a 9-play, 75-yard Raiders scoring drive. Adams logs his 5th touchdown of the season and the 92nd of his career. Meyers logs the 3rd passing touchdown of his career - his first since 2020.

Meyers had a 131.3 passer rating on Thursday, which was better than O'Connell's. Of course, we all remember when he threw an interception to the Raiders last season as a Patriot, and the Patriots lost the game. He didn't make any mistakes in this game.

The Raiders drew up for Meyers, and both were pretty nice plays. I wouldn't want to see them do it next week against Kansas City, though. But to be in the same conversation as Marcus Allen, one of the greatest Raiders players ever, has to be pretty special. The Raiders are certainly getting their money's worth.
